- Notes: Williams was born in Washington state and worked as a lumberjack during the summer to pay for his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago. His given name was Robert, however, he adopted the name Ruskin for his admiration of the work by fellow artist John Ruskin. He is listed in the Woodstock Artist directory of 1930 and exhibition records of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1921 and the Salons of America in 1929.
