Michael B. Grogan
Founder
Michael began his career in the art auction business in 1978 at Sotheby’s New York. During the course of his ten years at Sotheby’s, Michael was Head of the Oriental Carpets Department, Director of Sotheby’s Arcade Auctions, and President of Sotheby’s Appraisal Company, and, most importantly, met his wife, Nancy. He left Sotheby’s as a Vice President of the firm in June of 1987 to establish Grogan & Company as Boston’s own auction house. Michael is a graduate of Boston College, where he majored in Art History. Michael can often be seen on the hit PBS television series Antiques Roadshow as a silver, Oriental carpets, and paintings expert. Michael and his wife Nancy live in Marion, Massachusetts with their Jack Russell Terrier, Moose.

President
Georgina joined Grogan & Company after graduating from Harvard University in May of 2014. At Harvard, she majored in History of Art and Architecture, minored in The Classics, and was a tour guide for the Harvard Art Museums. At Grogan & Company, Georgina manages the appraisal, research, and cataloguing of both fine art and fine jewelry for auction. She has been an auctioneer for the firm since 2018 and, in her role as President, oversees company operations. She is USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) compliant through 2025 and has completed coursework at the Gemological Institute of America. Georgina is a Vice Chair of the Steering Committee for the Museum Council at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts and is President of the Board of Governors of Beacon Hill’s Nichols House Museum. A lifelong Beacon Hill resident, she recently moved to the North Shore, where she lives with her husband Robert and their English Cocker Spaniel, Bertie.

Gallery Director
Claudia joined Grogan & Company in the spring of 2021, after graduating from Trinity College in Connecticut. While at Trinity, she majored in Political Science and History and played on the varsity field hockey team. As Grogan & Company’s Gallery Director, Claudia ensures that each auction runs smoothly, overseeing daily gallery operations while cataloging both fine art and jewelry for our sales. She is USPAP compliant through 2026, and has completed coursework at the Gemological Institute of America. Though a Vermont native, Claudia knows the Boston area well through spending her summers on the North Shore and attending St. Mark’s School. She lives in the South End with her rescue pup, Wally.

Auction Coordinator
Mimi joined Grogan & Company in the fall of 2022. She is a graduate of Tulane University, where she majored in Legal Studies and Management. As Auction Coordinator, Mimi handles the daily operations of the gallery, including the intake and management of property, and being the primary point of contact for buyer’s and consignors alike. Additionally, she oversees the company social media accounts and supports the appraisal department. She is USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) compliant through 2025. As a lifelong Dedham, Massachusetts resident, Mimi is delighted to be back in the Boston area living in the South End.

Marketing Coordinator
Lilia Hutchins joined the Grogan & Company team in the fall of 2023. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where she majored in Studio Art and minored in Statistics. While at UVM, Lilia was a nationally-ranked member of the sailing team. As Grogan & Company’s Marketing Coordinator, Lilia oversees the firm’s branding, including designing print catalogues, advertisements, and emails, while managing the company’s social media presence. She also oversees the photography department and manages all in-person and virtual events at Grogan & Company. When not at the gallery, Lilia enjoys pursuing her own artistic passions, including photography and printmaking, and spending time with her dog, Skippy. A Massachusetts native, Lilia is happy to be back and living in Beacon Hill.

Appraisal Consultant
Hercules graduated from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire in 1981. He majored in History and Anthropology and has been working in the art and antiques field as an auctioneer, appraiser, and dealer since 1989, and has worked with Grogan & Company in numerous capacities since that time. As an Appraisal Consultant for Grogan & Company, Hercules works closely with estates, lawyers, and individuals in need of fair market value or insurance replacement value appraisals. He is a member of the New Hampshire Antique Dealers Association, and a Trustee of the Robert Frost Farm Museum. He resides in Derry, New Hampshire, with his wife and two dogs.

Chief Morale Officer
Bertie is a two year old English Cocker Spaniel. He takes his job as chief morale officer very seriously, enthusiastically greeting his colleagues each morning, and is very loyal to his team. While he wishes he could spend his day retrieving birds, he instead works hard to ensure that spirits at the gallery are high, and can usually be found taking a nap under Georgina’s desk.
