Letter from ANDREW WYETH (American, 1917-2009) to Alice Moore

Monday, June 20, 1938 [mis-dated July 20]; mailed Monday, June 20, 1938
Dearest:
Well my work is really coming along now I have gotten in the swing and feel sure that my work is showing great improvement. I have been sticking to water color for the last two weeks, although I have several tempera paintings on the way. I have been going to bed at nine o'clock and getting up at five every morning, so you see I have been putting in the licks but as I have three shows coming off in the fall, it's a good thing. In fact, if I didn't it would be pretty bad for me.
It was good to hear from you, and you know that I will see you in July. I wish you would send me the price of the train fare from Poughkeepsie here as I would be very happy to take care of it if you would come by train, because it is impossible for me to leave my work at this time. You will probably think me selfish and I don't blame you a bit. But that's the way I must be hope this note doesn't spoil your strange love for me if you can call it that.
Love
Andy
