GYLLENBERG & SWANSON Silver Five Piece Coffee and Tea Service, Boston, ca. 1930

height of kettle on stand: 12 1/2 in.; 134.62 ozt.

Note: Frederick J. R. Gyllenberg and Alfred H. Swanson were both associated with The Handicraft Shop in Boston. Established in 1901 as the first salesroom for the Boston Society of Arts & Crafts, The Handicraft Shop was a premier early 20th-century workshop dedicated to producing high-quality, handmade, and often Colonial-inspired silver. Operating until roughly 1942, it served as a vital, collaborative hub for esteemed artisans and master silversmiths—including Franz Leinonen, George Gebelein, Karl Leinonen, and Mary Knight—who focused on handcrafted, often restrained designs rather than industrial, mass-produced items.
