The results of Grogan & Company’s Fine Art Auction highlight the strong demand for 19th—and 20th-century American art. The entire sale achieved over $1.5 million in sales and saw a 90% sell-through rate, with an average lot value of $8,500. Six out of the top eight lots were works by influential American artists highlighted with works by Paul Sample, Guy C. Wiggins, Theodore Butler, Clyde Aspevig, and Eric Sloane. Works by famed European artists including Jean Dufy and Wobbe Alkema all flew past their presale estimates. The sale concluded with 50 lots of fine prints and multiples with standout works by Alexander Calder and Roy Lichtenstein.
