Fine Art

Saturday, May 4, 2024

The spring fine art auction featured a well-curated selection of American art, European art, prints and multiples, and sculptures that resulted in a 90% sell through rate. Leading the sale was a collection of nine Old Master prints, with the top lot being Lot 148, Knight, Death, and the Devil, which saw seven phone bidders compete fiercely, ultimately resulting in a sale price of $100,000. Additionally household American named crossed the auction block with strong results like Frank Swift Chase, Grandma Moses and William Trost Richards. A strong selection of works by women surpassed their respective estimates, including pieces by Alice Baber, Alma Thomas, and Pegeen Vail. Overall the auction achieved nearly $1.6 million in sales with 40% of lots selling above their estimate ranges.
