ca. 1925; the exterior featuring light blue enamel framed with a dark blue enamel border accented with four bezel-set baguette diamonds and a clasp set with rose-cut diamonds; the spring clasp opens to reveal a Chinoiserie scene painted in gold and red enamel which lifts to reveal a mirrored powder compartment; signed; 54.49 dwts.; 2 x 1 1/2 x 7/16 in.

  • Provenance: Provenance: By descent in the family of a cultural attache at the United States Embassy in Paris under Ambassador Amory Houghton, late 1940s.
  • Condition: minor loses to the blue enamel on the exterior, concentrated in the dark blue border around the diamonds on the top of the case and along the bottom edge on the underside; lighter blue enamel intact with no chips, just minor surface scratches; red enamel interior in overall good condition
