Other Notes: The figures are inspired by two Jean-L?on G?r?me paintings, L'Alm?e (1863) and Danse du Sabre Chez un Pacha (1875, now lost). They were the product of the partnership between fine art dealer Adolphe Goupil (1806-1893) and the noted French sculptor Antonin Merci? (1845-1916).
