"JAPANESQUE" STONEWARE VASE/LAMP, Edmond Lachenal, maker, late 19th/early 20th century
decorated with bamboo branches and leaves and with complimentary silk and brown felt shade, base signed LACHENAL, FRANCE; height of vase: 13 in.; diameter of shade: 17 1/2 in.; overall height: 26 1/2 in.

Other Notes: Edmond Lachenal (1855–1948) was a French potter and a pivotal figure in the development and creation of Art Nouveau in ceramics. In 1889, Lachenal received his first gold medal at the World's Fair in Paris for his work with faience wares in the style of Theodore Deck. His work is included in collections of Art Nouveau ceramics in the Louvre, Paris and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
