At age 11, Hovsep Pushman was the youngest pupil admitted to Istanbul's prestigious Imperial School of Fine Arts. He emigrated to Chicago with his family as a teenager, continuing his artistic studies there, before attending Paris' Académie Julian. He ultimately settled in New York City, exhibiting with the Grand Central Art Galleries for much of his career. He is best known for his strikingly lit still lives, and his glowing, often colorful depictions of the female form.


  • Condition: Condition: Paint thick and stable; a few small areas of restoration in woman's hair. Minor frame rub along top edge. Some stable cracking of paint in darkest paint areas in upper left quadrant.
