CARTIER 18K YELLOW GOLD MOUNTED DIAMOND, GOLD, AND VELVET FAN GUARD STICKS, late 19th century
comprised of a pair of Continental diamond, gold and cobalt blue velvet fan guard sticks, later mounted by Cartier to an 18k yellow gold oval frame; one guard stick bearing a diamond mounted locket with monogram E, which lifts to reveal a lock of hair, beneath a diamond mounted crown; the companion guard stick bearing a portrait miniature with blue enamel frame overall height: 11 1/4 in., total weight of gold frame (excluding fan sticks and mirror): 210 dwts.
