Nude Man

graphite and wash on laid paper
with second red pencil study of hands, verso
sight: 15 x 10 in., frame: 24 x 18 in.

  • Provenance: Stanhope Shelton; Property of a Connecticut Family Collection.
  • Notes: Accompanied by a copy of a letter from Stanhope Shelton, dealer of British drawings, discussing the fact that the work came from the Brue Ingram Collection, and noting that his collector's stamp can be seen on the front of the work. However, examination out of the frame reveals no such mark.
  • Condition: Affixed to matting with linen tape on all sides. Staining around edges.
