ca. 1960; the house with pave-set full-cut diamonds, a polished gold roof, step-cut ruby chimney and window, and an onyx door; set atop a green enamel lawn decorated with carved emerald bushes; completed by an arched tree with a pave-set full-cut diamond trunk and carved emerald, cabochon sapphire, and circle-cut ruby leaves; signed YARD; 7.24 dwts.; 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 in.

  • Notes: Raymond Yard's famed House brooches were introduced in 1932, consisting of pave–set diamonds, enamel, gold roofs, and colorful gemset trees and shrubbery. Over the next 20 years, the designs became bigger and more elaborate. By the 1960s, Yard was commissioned by prominent American families to create jeweled depictions of their properties.
  • Condition: small area of enamel loss in lawn (approx. 2.00 mm.); small girdle chip to one of the rubies; overall good condition; diamonds bright, brilliant, eye clean; colored stones well matched.
