COREY FAIRFIELD - PLACES 4th IN HIGH JUMP AT NATIONALS!
Corey becomes the first Millis Athlete to become an ALL AMERICAN, and the first Millis Track Athlete to
take first place at All States - becoming an All State Champion in his event. Corey was also the Tri Valley
League Champion in his event, placed First at the Div. 4 State Meet, and placed 4th at NE Regionals.

Div. IV Indoor Track and Field Class Meet:
Corey Fairfield became the Div. 4 high jump champion with a new school record of 6' 7" and
Zach Tashjian took 10th place in the 1000 meter with a time of 2:46.6, also a new school record.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: MILLIS FALLS TO COHASSET...
The Girls Basketball team had a great season making it all the way to the Div. 4 South Sectional Semi final, but fell 54-40 to top seeded and undefeated Cohasset. Molly Breen became the all time leading scorer in Millis with 1,357 career points. Read More..Milford Daily News
BOYS BASKETBALL: SOUTHEASTERN (83) downs MILLIS (73): On Monday, the boys team was eliminated in the Preliminary rounds by Southeastern Regional. "Senior forward Nick Hyman turned in a career-high 35-point performance and Senior guard Andrew Bonzey added 12 points with junior Steve Gordon adding eight for the Mohawks (9-12). Millis, which trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half, pulled to within six points early in the fourth quarter but couldn't manage to get any closer. Fifteen of Hyman's 35 points came on 3-pointers." - Milford Daily News

THE '09 DIV. 3 EASTERN MASS CHAMPIONS
Div. 3 State Finals: Millis downed Gatway (3-0) on Sat. Nov. 21st, to win the Div. 3 State Championship title.T his is the first time Millis Girls Soccer Team has won a State title and the 3rd State title Millis Girls have won in less the past 12 months, a huge accomplishment for such a small school. Nov. 17: At Veterans Stadium in Quincy, the Millis Mohawks Girls Soccer Team earned their place at the State Finals by defeating Georgetown (1-0) to take the Div. 3 Eastern

Sun. Nov. 15 - The Millis Girls Soccer Team made school history, distinguishing themselves as the first Girls Soccer team in Millis to win a Sectional Title by beating the #2 seed W. Bridgewater (2-1) in the Division 3 South Finals. They will now play Georgetown in the Div. 3 North vs South semi-final game and try to earn Millis the 3rd Girls Division 3 State Championship Title in just 12 months. Game Highlights: Millis freshman midfielder Jillian Zitoli netted the game-winning goal on a cross by senior captain and forward Molly Breen. Junior forward Ashley Page scored a goal 0:42 into the game, assisted by Breen. Senior captain goalie Amanda White totaled six saves for the Mohawks (14-2-6) and Senior captain stopper Olivia Zitoli and Senior Sweeper Amanda Vecchi played strong on defense. DIV. 4 STATE MEET: COREY FAIRFIELD BREAKS MEET
RECORD IN HIGH JUMP-QUALIFIES FOR NATIONALS
Congratulations to Corey Fairfield for placing First and breaking the MIAA Div. 4 State Meet High Jump Record with a jump of 6' 7.25". This is also a new school record and qualified him for Nationals! Also, congratulations to David Baker who placed 6th in the Discus. The boys team placed 18th out of the 32 teams who competed, one of the best showings by Millis at a State Wide Meet. Other solid performances included Sarah McAuliffe who placed 7th, setting a new school record in the 400 hurdles, Brett Mastrangelo who placed 8th in the 800, and Molly Breen who placed 9th in the 800 meter.

GIRLS SOFTBALL - FALLS TO NANTUCKET
After travelling by bus, then by boat for what seemed like a very longday, the girls softball team fell to Nantucket in the 1st round of the Div. 3 South bracket.
MILLIS BOYS VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO ALGONQUIN
On Thursday, May 21st , host 7th seeded Millis fell to 10th seeded Algonquin in Round one of
the Division I Central Playoffs, thus ending a very good season.
MILLIS TRACK ATHLETES FIND SUCCESS AT TVL MEET
On Wed., May 20th the Boys and Girls competed in the Tri Valley League Wide Meet at Westwood. Millis has two league champions: Corey Fairfield took 1st in High Jump and Jess Lee took 1st in Triple Jump. For the boys, Dave Baker placed 3rd in both the Shot and Discus; Brett Mastrangelo came in 4th in the 800; Alex Parr took 4th in the Long Jump; Aaron Landau was 5th in the mile and Corey Fairfield also placed 6th in the 100 yd dash. For the girls: Molly Breen placed 2nd in the Javelin and 5th in the Shotput; Jess Lee also placed 5th in the Long Jump; Becca Pearl took 6th in the Discus; and Sarah McAuliffe placed 6th in the 400 hurdles;
Fifteen athletes have qualified to represent Millis at the Class D State Meet in Weston on 5/29:
GIRLS: Jess Lee- Triple jump, Long jump and 100m; Molly Breen- Javelin, Shotput, Mile and 800m; Sarah McAulliffe - Triple Jump, 400 hurdles; Rebecca Pearl - Discus; Sam Harkey & Helen Haggerty - High Jump; and the 4x400 team: Amanda Vecchi, Ashley Page, Molly Breen and Sarah McAulliffe;

"To go up from two wins last year to 12 wins and the second round of the state tournament was a huge accomplishment for this team," said Millis coach Tom Ingraham. The team finishes 12-10.

2008-2009 Indoor Track & Field Highlights
STATE QUALIFIERS - Several of athletes from our Indoor Track team qualified for the Div. IV State meet held on Feb. 21st: Corey Fairfield (high jump) , Brett Mastrangelo (mile), Aaron Landau (2 mile), Steve Carisle (dash), Jessica Lee (dash, high jump and shotput), Amanda Vecchi (600), Sarah McAuliffe (600) and the girls 4 x 400 team of AmandaVecchi, Sarah McAuliffe, Michelle Broccino & Jacqueline Selter.
TVL Championships - Saturday, Jan. 31st: The boys and girls track teams had a strong showing at the Reggie Lewis Center at the Tri Valley League Championships including a First place finish for Corey Fairfield in the high jump at 6'4", a Third place finish in the high jump for Jess Lee (4'10") a Fourth place finish for Aaron Landau in the 2 mile and a Fourth place finish for Brett Mastrangelo in the mile. Jess Lee also placed 6th in the shot put and 6th the dash.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL WINS DIV. III STATE TITLE!

Congratulations! -The girls Volleyball Team defeated North Reading 3-1 on Saturday in the State Championship Final. They are now the Div. III State Champions. Two fan buses and a multitude of fans flooded the gymnasium of Hudson High School to support the team. They were greeted by sirens and a parade as they triumphantly returned to Millis.

The last time the Varsity Volleyball team made it to the state finals was 5 years ago, when the current seniors were just starting their Volleyball journey as 7th graders on the Freshman team. This is truly a special and poignant way to end their senior season and an honor for all the girls on the team. Congratulations!
The road to the championships included defeating Mount Alvernia (3-0) in Round One, Ayer (3-1) in the Quarterfinals and Ashland (3-0) in the Semi Final game. The girls went on to defeat Valley Tech (3-0) to become the MIAA Div. III Central Sectional Champions. They defeated Ursuline 3-1 in the State Semi-Finals earning them a chance at the title.
The Girls Varsity Soccer team fell to Norwell in the quarterfinal on Monday. They had a great season, earning a fifth seed in the South Div. III section. They won their first game against South Shore Christian (2-0).
